Today, I was promoted to “Distinguished teacher” [Swe. Excellet lärare], the second level (out of two) in the pedagogical qualification model at Umeå university. The qualification model is a way to “assess and reward excellence based on criteria for pedagogical excellence“, quite similar to becoming a Docent (or Associate professor) but solely based on pedagogical achievements.
Today, there are a bit over 200 pedagogically qualified teachers at Umeå University, out of approx. 2 200 teachers in total. Only one third of the qualified teachers have however reached the second level. Nice to be one of them!
